The Circuit Players.

The Circuit Players is the Tunbridge Wells Circuit drama group.   Margaret Richards is the chairmen who directs nearly every play.   They have performed a number of Plays from Pantomimes to   Gilbert and Sullivan.

The Circuit Players where formed in 1980. They perform in Church helping to make the service more meaningful. They did a Dramatic reading of the denial of Jesus by Peter on Palm Sunday 2000 as part of the United Service with the congregation of King Charles the Martyr Church.   They have performed a play showing the healing of the parlays man, building a mother and Mary's Story on Mothering Sunday 2000 and the story of the workers in the vineyard.   Sometimes they perform at other Churches in the Circuit   as they did on Maundy Thursday with a play at St Johns Southborough which dealt with the reactions of various characters connected with Jesus to His Crucifixion.   A short Christmas play complete with a felled tree was taken to the other Churches in the Circuit during January Snow one year.   In 2000 an open air production complete with horse for John Wesley was put on in Groombridge village to celebrate the Chapel Anniversary.

The Circuit Players have also performed The Gondoliers, Mikado and Iolanthe as well as a variety of other secular plays,' This Happy Breed', 'Arms and the Man', A   Murder is Announced' and other plays.

This Happy Breed.   Noel Coward.   Performed 1987.

They have tried their hand at Pantomimes.   They have done Jack and the Beanstalk, Cinderella, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs and others.   In one pantomime the then Minister, Ramsey Moore took time off from preparing Christmas services to be the Dame! One member is still using a large pot in which the wicked Step Mother concocted a magic Potion to coat Snow White's apple!

A Murder is Announced.   Agatha Christy. Performed 1998
The Circuit Players is perhaps one of the few amateur dramatic societies that end up with a profit (small!). Some of this is set aside for future productions but usually a portion is given to Charity.   There is quite a wealth of God given talent in the group and we hope our efforts are enjoyed by all.

The Circuit players have a new show lined up.   To find out more click here.
